Wishing You a Happy and Blessed New Year....

Last night we had the opportunity to see and pray for our friends the Eisners as they prepared to return to their missionary assignments in Guatemala early this morning. They have been back in the U.S. for several months and it was truly a blessing for us to have spent time with them.

Seeing the Eisners return to Guatemala reminds us of just how fast 2013 has gone by. We are now only 14 days from our own departure to Papua New Guinea and, while there is still much to do, we are excited about what God has in store for 2014. Kathy and I wish you all a Happy and Blessed New Year.

19 Days and Counting

Kathy and I had a great Christmas and we hope you did as well. We attended Christmas service at our home church and then had a friend over for dinner. On Christmas day we spent time together in the morning and then got to go and visit several other dear friends.

We approach the new year with excitement at getting to serve side by side in Papua New Guinea, but it is difficult to say goodbye. We are blessed with supportive family and friends and we want you all to know that you are in our prayers.

We have much left to accomplish in the next 19 days. In fact, we have so much to accomplish that it doesn't seem like a realistic goal. Nonetheless, we know that a little faith, a lot of prayer and a lot of work goes a long way. We also know that things will work out according to His plan; our job is to be obedient to His call on our lives.

Welcome to our new blog!

Going forward, this site will be our primary means of communicating with partners, friends and family. Our LinkedIn and Facebook groups will continue to exist and we'll update all three platforms. Please feel free to explore this blog and come back often for updated information.

After over year of prayer and preparation we are thankful to finally be approaching our departure date. We are scheduled to leave from Boston on the morning of January 14th and arrive in Mandang on the morning of January 16th.

Our initial training is called the Pacific Orientation Course or POC. The session begins on January 22nd and consists of language, culture and physical training followed by a cultural immersion program where we will live in a remote village for several weeks. Once we complete the POC, we will travel to Ukarumpa, where Scott will serve as Security Manager and Kathy will teach High School Science at the Ukarumpa International Secondary School.

As we wind down the last weeks of 2013 we have much to accomplish, but we are certain of His call on our lives and blessed to be able to use our professional skills in the overseas mission field.
